2012 Annual Ball (Completed)

End of Year Mad Hatters Ball

The University of New South Wales' Biotechnology and Biomolecular Society (BABSOC) along with the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Students Society (EISSOC) invite you to join us for a night of fun and frivolty! It will be a fantastic opportunity to party with Arc societies from across uni – bring your fellow society mates, grab a table!

The theme is 'Mad Hatters' in honour of the late A/Prof. Alan Wilton, a proud hat enthusiast and BABSOC supporter, so rock your craziest headwear. Girls – Get out that ball gown that hasn't been worn for years or better: Buy a new one!! Guys –  polish up those flirting skills! There will be a three course meal at the classiest venue in town, the QVB Tea Room.

To help us in the organisation of the ball we would greatly appreciate it if you could register your intention to attend by paying a $50 deposit on your ticket.

The maximum price of the ball tickets will be $110, however, the final price will be lower if the team proves successful in its attempts to secure external sponsorship to help subsidise the event.

Event Summary

The event was a success, with a higher than anticipated turnout, everything running smoothly on the night, and a genuinely positive response from those who attended.

The major event which the Social Team organised was the Mad Hatters End of Year Ball, held at the Tea Room in the QVB on Friday the 19th of October (Week 13, Semester 2). The event included a 3 course dinner, wonderful drinks package, and a high class DJ for $110 for non-arc and $100 for arc members.

As this was our major event, significant effort was placed in the marketing, including posters, flyers, stalls, a BBQ to promote the event, Facebook pages with continuous updates, emails, lecture bashing and word of mouth. The goal was to sell 91 tickets but with the combined efforts of the Social and TSM team, 118 tickets were sold, proving that our organisation and marketing skills were succesful.
