Meet The Team 2016

Armella Zadoorian

Hi there, I’m Armella, a Medical Science graduate and honours student in the School of BABS. Having had a wonderful time in the society last year as the Professional Events Director, this year I am privileged to continue working with my fellow executive members as the President of BABSOC for 2016. By building on our previous successes, we hope to continue holding fantastic events that both the students and staff of BABS can enjoy and benefit from.

Vice President

Andrew McCulloch

Hi I’m Andrew and I am the Vice President of BABSOC for 2016. I am a second year Medical Science student with ambitions to study Medicine in the future. Alongside my passion for medicine, I am very interested in foreign languages, and as such I plan on studying Japanese during my time at university. Outside of uni I enjoy spending time with friends and family, travelling overseas and eating delicious food. I am a self-proclaimed coffee addict and I am always happy to have a chat.

Jasmin Collins

Hi, I’m Jasmin and I currently study a combined Science and Law degree. I have a huge passion for food with eating being my favourite part of the day. I’m also a self-proclaimed macaron expert, having worked at a pretentious patisserie for a while now. However, beyond food, I enjoy keeping active and travelling, with plans to go skiing in Utah at the end of the year. I really hope I can make a big contribution to BABSOC this year and look forward to meeting lots of new faces at this years’ events!

Gordon Qian

Hi! I’m Gordon the treasurer for BABSOC 2016. I am in my second year of my Advanced Science degree, doing a double major in molecular and cell biology and bioinformatics. I have always had the fantasy to break fundamental laws in science and conquer human genomics. Outside of my love for science, I am very keen to immerse myself in the Korean and Japanese cultures. Their music and media entertainment is amazing!

Events Coordinators

Riccardo Lee

Hi. I am Riccardo, currently a second year medical science student. My role in BABSOC is Professional Events coordinator where I organise any professional events such as careers nights. I will be working with the symposium director to organise the symposium exhibition. I hope to organise many useful and interesting events for students in the School of BABS.

Lauren Sullivan

I’m a third year student studying a Bachelor of Science (Advanced), majoring in Biotechnology. I love playing with bacteria, going to the beach, and I’m a huge bookworm. One of my science interests is the application of molecular biology to solve challenges in medical treatment. I’m really keen to get into organising BABSOC’s social events this year – and meeting more new and current BABS students!

Carrina Lee

Hi, I’m Carrina,  a Second Year Medical Science Student. This year, I am BABSOC’s Symposium Director and will be working with the rest of the BABSOC executive to hold an informative and inspirational event where UNSW students under the School of BABS get to showcase the research they have been working this past year. I love to listen to music, watch K-Dramas and write novels in my free time. I also love playing and watching sport and was a National Swimmer. I’m looking forward to the upcoming year and meeting all of our new and old BABSOC members!

Social Media and Marketing Manager

Amy Wray

Hi I’m Amy and I’m currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Biotechnology. I’m really interested in the environmental side of biotech and hope that I can contribute to the cleanup of contaminated sites in the future. Outside of Uni I’m really keen on travel, theatre and hockey.

Arc Delegate

James G. Barnes

My name is James and I am the Arc Delegate of BABSOC, responsible for managing the society’s relationship with Arc, the UNSW student organisation. I handle the behind-the-scenes paperwork to keep the society running smoothly and represent us at official Arc meetings.
I make sure I am a Science and Arts student, majoring in Microbiology and Molecular and Cell Biology. I have been with the BABSOC team for a couple of years now, being formerly the Marketing Manager and Third Year Representative.
I am also a Science Fiction and Fantasy fan, currently President of the UNSW Tolkien Society. Through our work in BABS, I hope that we will be able to make some of the wonders of Science Fiction into Science Fact!

IT Manager

Tanu Sridhar

Hi I’m Tanu, the 2016 IT Manager for BABSOC. I’m a fourth year Science and Economics student who’s excited about what BABSOC can achieve this year. Parallel to my love of biology are my interests in dance, travel, graphic design and technology. I’m looking forward to working with the BABSOC exec team to create bigger and better things for BABSOC students.
